Third baseman Aubrey Huff collected 2 extra-base hits and had 2 RBI as the SSB
SSB Tar Heels defeated the pathetic Chainsaw Proctologists by the score of 6
to 4 at the ballpark.
SSB brought 5 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 4th inning when they
had 5 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Huff who made the crowd
come alive when he tripled scoring two baserunners. Chainsaw threatened in
the 9th but SSB was able to put down the rally.
Tim Hudson(10-4) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 6 innings. Mariano
Rivera earned his 23rd save. Miguel Batista(6-8) suffered the loss. He was
unable to control the SSB offense and allowed 7 hits and 3 walks in 3 and 2/3
innings.
Phil Vantrepotte was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If
only we could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's
not going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.'
